And just like that, not so much!

As productive as the previous day was, Saturday was a relative bust! I got a little done, but not much.

They are made from sliced stacks. Here's the book, by Karla Alexander. The pattern is Red Onion. I made this once in browns and tans (me!!). It turned out really nice,

 so now I'm experimenting with blues and the wonderful Westminster target fabric. (I don't have the one above anymore: I gifted it.)

I did a little more knitting - can you tell the difference? (HA!)

Just for fun, here are the current "Books on the Nightstand" (yes, I read multiple books at a time).

I also listen to audio books as I sew. I've just finished Victims, by Jonathan Kellerman (goodness, he's a productive writer!!) and made a library run for another fresh selection, so nothing on the stereo at the moment.

QOTW - Week 7

Sheesh - here it is the middle of week 8 already and I'm just now posting week 7. Such is the busy life of a retiree! :)

(Oops - no close-up!)  The churn-dash blocks and inner border are all plaids. This is another one of those quilts from the UFO bin. Doing a quilt a week is good incentive to get into those ufos and get them done!

I'm busy gathering stuff for The Great Packing event. There's a lot to think about, knowing I'll be gone for so long - but I'm getting there. Isn't it always the case that it takes forever for "the event" to get here, then all of a sudden OMG IT'S HERE!!!!  I drove around with the cargo carrier on the car for a week or so to see if it felt any different; it doesn't. Still, I worry about those winds in New Mexico and Arizona! Will my  car be blown off the road? I hope not. The carrier is nicely aerodynamic, but still .....

My trip starts in two weeks (and 1 day, if you wanna get technical about it). Then (Donna) I will blog every day so I'll have a good record of where I went and what I did. It worked well last year.  Expect BIG things this year; I know I am!!  Until then - my life seriously is not that interesting!

I spent President's Day here:

Lunch at Brett's (this is the view from the windows), then shopping in the little Fernandina Beach village. I bought lots of clothes. You know what? All the seaside villages look the same - I'm convinced of that. They're all unique with what they have to offer, of course, but they all look alike. :) I kind of like that!

My book group is reading "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" this month. I finished it this week. I really enjoyed it and do not know how a movie could be made from this book. The reviews (of the movie) I've read have not been kind: I can understand that. I probably will not go to see the movie, but recommend the book. It's an easy read.

I have to find a consignment shop!

My House is Naked!!!!

The exterior dudes started today. The windows are all replaced now, and the siding is in various states of disrepair. This is a two week project - I think I'm gonna need some really good headphones! When I walked outside to no fencing and naked house parts - wow - it was quite disorienting! But I'll sure be happy when it's all done. Having to move so much stuff for the siding and windows has let me (more like "forced me to") clean out areas that have been inaccessible for a long time. If I thought my CDs were dusty .......... (I think that counts on my "declutter" calendar for the day/.)

So while the guys worked, I sewed. Here's a sneak peak of this week's project:

I need to learn how to adjust color in photos, because this fabric is very pink! This is a variation of the Cheech and Chong pattern by Lynn Provencher. It's one of my favorite quick quilts (and a quilt a week has to be quick).

I decided I needed to go back and rephotograph "glass", so here are some fun things.

I found this bottle on the beach a number of years ago. It has some Chinese writing, is triangular shaped, and is just a very cool bottle. I keep my olive oil in it now. See the thing that looks like a smiley face on it? .....

I got in some reading time today as well. I finally finished "The Litigators", started "The Colorado Kid" (the SyFy series "Haven" is based on this book. I love the series so want to get the background.) I'm still reading "Uncle Tom's Cabin" even though I should be starting "Catcher in the Rye". I'll catch up! Also still reading "The Passion of the Western Mind" (philosophy junkie that I am).
